Busy, busy...Setting up store and writing patterns

Been very busy lately. I have finally had the time to write up the pattern for the Button Close Tarot Bag which is currently for sale at Ravelry and Etsy.

As you can see, I've finally gotten my Etsy store up and running. I will have more items posted for sale and more patterns available for purchase in coming weeks. These upcoming patterns include a free afghan square pattern (utilizing alternating double crochets and front post double crochet stitches) a summer clutch pattern, and a pattern for a simple rune bag. Pre-made items will be available at my Etsy store and the patterns will be available there and at Ravelry and maybe even here one day (I'm still debating that).

Anyway, I hope you stop by my store and I hope there is something there that you like. I'm open for custom orders so if you like something, I am able to make it in a different color.

Simple Toy Purse Pattern

Have a little girl in your life who loves to be like Mommy or Auntie? Crochet this little purse for her. It takes just a little bit of yarn and time...Make one, two, twenty for that special little girl in your life and all her friends.

Materials:

About 4 oz Red Heart Super Saver or other Worsted Weight yarn

Size H hook

Purse:

Ch 25

Rnd 1: 2 hdc in third ch from hook, hdc in each of next 21 chs, four hdc in last ch, turn so that you are working on the other side of the ch, hdc in each ch across to first ch, 1 hdc in first ch, sl st to top of ch-2.

Rnd 2: Ch 2, hdc in the back loops of the next hdc and in each hdc around, sl st to top of ch-2.

Rnds 3- 14: Repeat Round 2, do not fasten off.

Flap:

Row 1: Ch 2, hdc in back loops of next 22 sts.

Row 2-7: Ch 2, turn. Hdc in each st across. At end of Row 7, Fasten off.

Handles:

Make two chains of 100 sts each, fasten off. Tie the chs together in the middle and then attach them to the purse on either sides of the flap. Make sure they are secure. Fasten off and enjoy!

Shelly Mile-a-Minute Scarf Pattern

Here it is, the Shelly MAM pattern. I hope you all enjoy. The last round might be a little confusing for some, but that was as clear as I was able to make it.

Materials:

Size J hook

1/2-3/4 skein worsted weight yarn

Scarf:

Ch 7, join with slip stitch to first ch to form ring

Row 1: Ch 4 (counts as first dc and sp), 3 dc in ring, ch 3, 3 dc in ring, ch 1, dc in ring.

Row 2: Ch 3, turn. *3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc* in ch-3 sp, dc in top of last dc.

Rows 3-75: Repeat Row 2. Do not fasten off.

Rnd 1: Ch 1, sl st around last dc worked in Row 75: you should be now working on the side of the scarf. Ch 3, 2 dc in same dc, 3 dc in the end of each row for next 74 rows; 15 tr in beginning loop; 3 dc in end of each of next 75 rows, 15 tr in top of Row 75, sl st to top of first dc of round. Fasten off.

Well, I know I said I was going to post some new patterns after my wedding last year, but things didn't quite turn out as planned. I haven't been crocheting much since then and I haven't even rally looked at writing up my patterns in a while. But now I'm back, for good hopefully. I have a couple of new patterns coming up. One I will post on here for free, but the other will be available only through Ravelry.

The former is my Shelly Mile-a-Minute Scarf. I meant to have that pattern up months ago, but I lost track of the work and forgot about it for a while. The latter is a new Tarot bag pattern I wrote up a couple of nights ago. It's nice, done in rounds with a flap and button closure. Pics of both are below.

I have also been playing around with some other patterns. One is my Wheel of the Year Shawl. I'm using a variation of a pattern of another square to make one that has eight spokes to represent the eight holidays of the Pagan year. I only have a few squares done so far.

Also, one thing I would like to share from my wedding last June is the beautiful afghan I crocheted. Here is a picture:

Almost Here!!!

Well, my wedding is almost here. June 20! It's so close and I have so much to do. I have to finish my wedding afghan and my top. I'm not sure if I'm going to add a shawl or not, but probably not. I still have to make the centerpieces for the reception and work on the wording for the wedding ritual. I'm so excited

In other news, I'll have some new patterns to share in July and August. I'll have my Shelly Scarf pattern finished, the toy purse pattern, and hopefully my patterns for tech totes. I'm also working a bit on a pattern for a mystical journal bag, and a few others. I want to get all of them posted or ready to post before my classes start in August. As usual, I'll post them here and set them up as downloads on Ravelry.

I'm also planning on spending July working on some more Pagan oriented patterns and I'm looking for ideas. I have a couple of Tarot bag patterns I'm thinking about but I would like to get some more ideas for things people would like to see. If you have any ideas, let me know and I'll see if it's something I can work on.

I don't know if I'll be able to post any patterns before the end of the month, but if I can, I will.

Been busy, but I'll be working

Well, the semester is almost over and I've been working like crazy, and not just on school work. I have a few patterns I'm working on right now and hope to have finished and tested by the end of the month so I can share them all here. One is a Toy Purse pattern. It takes around half a skein of yarn to make and not too much time. I have a scarf pattern to share: my Shelly Scarf that it almost fully written out.

I'm also working on a new Tarot Bag pattern and an amulet bag pattern. I'm hoping to get those done pretty soon so I can hare them.

I'm wanting to spend this summer working on getting several designs out for Pagan patterns since there aren't too many real good ones out on the 'net.

Crochetville Secret Pal Swap Goodies

The Crochetville Secret Pal Swap is nearing its end and I got my reveal package in the mail today! My Unknown Secret Pal was Lori, The Shrone. She sent me all kinds of goodies in the reveal package.

A bottle of Lavender & Herbs scented lotion
A tube of Soy Body Lotion, Lavender and Chamomile scented
6 little bars of wonderfully scented soaps...These made the entire package smell wonderful. Lovely scents.

A package of Peeps!! (And I was just telling Mike the other day that I wish I'd bought some more this year)
A small bag of Cream Early Grey tea
And a fun little Lunch Spinner. Mike had fun playing with this earlier trying to get it to what he wanted for lunch :)

Yellow crochet thread
Size 7 crochet hook

Stitches used:
Ch, sc, v-st (dc, ch 1 dc) in same stitch

Bookmark:

Ch 14

Row 1: V-st in 6th ch from hook (skipped ch counts as first dc and skipped chs), *skip 2 ch, v-st in next ch * twice more, skip next ch, dc in last ch.

Row 2-20: Ch 3, v-st in each v-st across, dc in last dc.

Do not fasten off.

Edging: Ch 1, sc evenly around with 3 sc in each corner.

Fasten off and weave in ends. Block to shape.

Symbology:
Yellow is a classic color is intellect and intelligence. It is often stated in several spell books that using a yellow bookmark in a textbook will assist the person in learning their materials. This goes along that same premise. By crocheting the bookmark the energy and intent of the crocheter is put into the creation thus allowing an easier flow of energy from the material to the reader. The V-stitch pattern used here, (dc, ch 1, dc) is in itself symbolic of the Triple Goddess. Using it in threes makes it even more so.

Seraphina, Bradie's Afghan, and a New Block

Well, I finally started a Seraphina Shawl. It took me a little bit to figure it out, but it's going quite fast now and I should have it done pretty soon. I really like how this is turning out and might not be able to stop at one. I'm supposed to make my mother a prayer shawl, but she wants a rectangle shawl; I'm going to see if I can talk her into this one because I think it will suit her purposes much better than the others I've been able to find.

On other projects, I'm working on the afghan for the new baby. Bradie Jane, our new niece, will be born by C-Section on February 4, one month premature. I decided to crochet a nice warm pink blanket for her and was going to use my Balanced Goddess Afghan pattern, but it wasn't turning out right with the Caron Simply Soft I was using. I was starting to get really discouraged because I wanted to make omething for this baby since I'm making something for each of the other nieces and nephews. Well, I finally figured it out and am currently in the middle of working on the new afghan pattern. It's composed of five panels; three of granny squares and two V-Stitch.

On the pattern writing front, I created an afghan block a couple of weeks ago. I call it the Blue Mesa Block. I still can't get the pattern written out on it, though. When I do I'm going to need a few testers because it's quite complicated and I want to make sure that it's written right.

Warm Up America Section Pattern

This is a pattern I wrote up for the Warm Up America Charity and Caron Simply Soft Contest. Even if you're not taking part of this contest, you can whip up these squares to donate to WUA. This is a wonderful organization that takes these donations of knitted and crocheted squares and stitches them together for blankets to donate to social service organizations and other charities.

This should come out to be a 7"x9" rectangle. Depending on your tension, you might have to tweak the pattern a little to fit that size.

Stitches: Chain, double crochet, V-Stitch (dc, ch 2, dc) in same stitch

Ch 32
Row 1: (Dc, ch 2, dc) in 6th ch from hook (first V-St made), (skip 2 ch, V-St in next ch) across to last 2 chs, dc in last ch. Ch 3, turn.

Repeat Row 2 until piece measures 9 inches from chain, usually 16 rows. Fasten off and weave in all ends.

Been a busy day

Well, I was working on a new pattern last night for an altar offering bowl. I worked it originally in Red Heart WW yarn but wanted to make another in cotton. Woke up this morning and tried to write the pattern only to find that...I couldn't. Oh well. The one I came up with is close enough and uses the same basic premise. Once I get my cotton bowl done, I'll post the pattern and pictures of both bowls up here. If there are any problems with the pattern, just let me know. I don't have anyone to test this pattern or most of my other patterns so I just go with what I have.

On other notes, I'm getting all the squares for my sister's comfortghan coming in. The squares are beautiful. I'm going to really enjoy putting this afghan together for her and I wish I could be there to give it to her in person. I've also been working on squares for Warm Up America all day. I have four done in Caron Simply Soft for the CSS contest. I went out today and bought more CSS yarn for it, too. I'll be working on those over the next couple of weeks.

Later tonight once I have pictures, I'll be posting the offering bowl pattern.

Tarot Bag Pattern

Fits a standard sized Tarot deck but can be altered to fit any deck by adding to the starting chain and/or adding more rows.

Size H crochet hook
½ skein worsted weight yarn
½ inch wide ribbon in coordinating color

Ch 30

Row 1: Dc in 9th ch from hook (counts as first dc and ch-2 sps), dc in each ch across, ch 1, turn.

Row 2: Sc in first dc and in each st across to ch-8 space, ch 2, sc in top of first dc, ch 5 (counts as first dc and ch-2 space here and throughout), turn.

Row 3: Dc in next sc and each sc across, ch 1, turn.

Row 4: Sc in each st across to space, ch 2, sc in top of 3rd ch, ch 5, turn.

Rows 5-24: Repeat Rows 2 and 3, ending in Row 2, fasten off.

Fold piece over lengthwise and whip stitch side and bottom together. Weave ribbon through holes at top. Finis.
